Plein Air, July 2012

I am thankful for good friends who are also discovering plein air painting. The weather has been warm but we get up early enough to beat the heat. Also, it doesn't hurt to go with someone who knows some lovely painting locations.

Spring is in the Air - Jonquils

Jonquils (Aka Daffodils) 8"x8" Oil on Canvas.
$125 plus $10 shipping (USA)
to Purchase contact me: aldisdl@hotmail.com

A taste of spring, I can feel it in the air. Or at least, I think I can feel it. The days are staying lighter longer, and isn't Daylight Savings coming up this weekend? Spring Forward! Though losing that extra hour of sleep isn't quite that enticing.

By the Light of the Moon - Nocturne Feb 2012

4 1/2" x 6 1/2" Oil on Artboard (archival cardboard)
$35.00 plus $5 shipping

To purchase contact me - aldisdl@gmail.com

I've never tried a Nocturne style painting, found it very interesting. I was just caught up by the way the moonlight filtered through the pine trees in front of our house, silhouetting the tree and the huge grain elevator across from our house.

Whitney - Gamblin Torrit Grey Competition

This is my entry for the Gamblin Torrit Grey Competition. Gamblin creates the Torrit Grey Pigment from waste pigments throughout the year. The rules are you are only allowed to use White, Black and Torrit Grey. The Torrit Grey pigment shifts every year, and it is not sold in stores, but given complimentary when you purchase Gamblin paints or mediums. I got my tube at the art store at the Lyme Academy in Connecticut.

This painting is a portrait of Whitney - I just loved her unique hairstyle - 12x16 oil on panel.
