Not a New Year's Resolution... Why not a Painting Challenge?
Rubber Ducky, You're The One...
30 paintings in 30 days
(The Leslie Saeta 30 in 30 January 2015 Challenge)
2014 has been busy - not as much with art related ventures, but with family life. My baby girl, Penny, turned one yesterday. We survived our First Year as parents! Yaay!
I did not post since the Grab Bag Challenge - mostly because everything went into overdrive. The Creative Shop (https://www.facebook.com/lcvalleycreativeshop) went into overdrive with events, press releases, ArtWalk, the holidays, more press releases.. Finally now as we come close to Christmas, we all get a chance to breathe.
I thought very hard about this Challenge - and figured out a compromise. I have over 100 3"x 3 3/4" hardboard panels. And since the last Challenge (The Grab Bag Challenge) I have been thinking about Rubber Duckies. I'm going to do 30 paintings based on this Rubber Ducky.
All paintings for sale - $25 plus shipping. So subscribe to my blog and stay up to date for the latest and greatest. Because you know you need a Rubber Ducky in your life.

Plein Air 2013 - Cloud Chasing
On Monday I went painting Plein Air for the first time this year, with my friend (hardcore plein air painter) Aaron Johnson. We drove out to a nice lookout spot on the old Pullman Highway, then raced back to his studio to pick up a Grad Student (painting) from the U of I - then back out for one more quick painting... Aaron is a whirlwind of paint and brushes - you have to be when you are trying to capture clouds. Below are my ventures, check out Aaron's wonderful painterly paintings on his website: www.cordellart.com

Zoe
Zoe, 4"x4" Oil on CanvasBoard, Private Collection
Zoe was a diabetic Pit Bull rescued from the streets by Leave No Paws Behind, Inc in California. She struggled valiantly and recovered at the vet - the founder of LNPB bonded with her and took her home. Zoe's heart gave out a couple days later. I think she knew she was loved and in a good place.
RIP, Zoe
Please donate to http://www.leavenopawsbehind.org/ or your local Humane Society.

A taste of spring, I can feel it in the air. Or at least, I think I can feel it. The days are staying lighter longer, and isn't Daylight Savings coming up this weekend? Spring Forward! Though losing that extra hour of sleep isn't quite that enticing.
